Channel 4 (Documentary) - The sinking of the Sturma
In February 1942 a cattle freighter with 769 Jews was sunk by an allegedly inadvertently fired torpedo in the black sea. There was only one survivor.
Already before the sinking of the "Sturma" the, from Nazi-Germany fleeing humans, had to suffered tremendously. After a 10 week stay in Istanbul on the rotten "Sturma", without sufficient food or sanitary systems, the Turkish authorities pulled (due to pressure of the British) the "Sturma", whose engine were defective, out to black sea. The Romanian cattle freighter was sunk shortly afterwards.
Only recently divers discovered the wreck. We took part in the production of this documentary film for the British broadcaststation Channel 4.
